It has been 100 years since the dam was built and Lake Wissota was created. To recognize this very important milestone, we have described the lake's many facets: the history before it, building the dam, people living near it, taverns sand supper clubs, grocery stores, marinas, sports and environmental groups, tragedies and joys. Each of these is a part of the story of the lake. Putting onto the paper the story of its diversity is the result of hours of research, writing and rewriting, finding or taking appropriate photos, as well as listening to a lot of stories and suggestions by many people. It is the hope of its volunteer authors, Donna Bourget, Anne Keller, and Jim Schuh, that you'll enjoy learning, through pictures and words, about Lake Wissota and the magnificent dam that created it.
