Originally published in the 1884 edition of the "The Fisheries and Fishery Industries of the United States", this reproduction print of the Crappie, or Sac-a-lait, was drawn by H.L. Todd. It was part of the first book in a multi-volume series produced by George Brown Goode, the famed ichthyologist (fish scientist), Smithsonian museum administrator, and U.S. Fish Commissioner. He managed a large staff of scientists, researchers, and clerical employees to produce this monumental work on American Fisheries. We are happy to make available the amazingly detailed drawings included in the first volume of the series as reproduction prints.
